More of the same


The same way of thinking will bring you the same results you are always getting. You can’t be doing the same things all the time and expect different results. If you want to make a change for the better in your life, you have to change. Your thinking has to change. What you believe about yourself and the world has to change.

And this is very difficult to do on your own just because you are so involved in your own world that it made you narrow-minded. You are not able to look left and right or give yourself a true birds eye view. Somebody else can give you a much more objective view of the situation than you are able to do for yourself.

But that is not to say you can’t do anything on your own, far from it. I have done a lot of self improvement by myself. I am reading, trying to put what I’ve learned into practice, journaling setting goals, meditating, visualizing and so on. And all of this helped me greatly. It’s been an amazing journey. And I recommend all of these activities..

For example, start your day with what Julia Cameron in her book “The artists way” calls “The Morning Pages”. Each morning before anything else, write 3 A4 pages of your thoughts. Just freewrite. Amazing exercise. I was doing it for months before I changed my morning routine. This exercise helped me see how powerful writing and journaling are. So now every time I feel overwhelmed and stuck, I have a solution I trust. Because I tested it. And it has helped me in many situations over the years.

Writing down your thoughts, putting them from your head onto paper is a great way to find clarity.

So if you are not happy with how your life is going, start changing yourself. Assess yourself, start an introspective into your character, into your habits and think about what needs to change if you are to have a life you want. Go for a quest of exploring yourself and your thinking.

If possible also start working with someone who will help you see your blind spots and provide you with further guidance and support. I am 100 % this will be one of the best investment you will do in your life.

It can be a therapist, counselor, some sort of coach or mentor. Anyone that has the skills to listen, the empathy to understand and who accepts your for who you are and genuinely cares for you.

Working with such a person will be extremely rewarding and will change your life. Especially if you never had such a person in your life before. I know it was life changing for me. And it is so rewarding that I still work with several such people at this moment.
